Old Ridge Run Stables was birthed in the dreams and hearts for many generations of the Barden and Adsit families.
Billie Jo Barden Adsit is fullfilling her part of the vision in Old Ridge Run Riding Stables.
She started riding and showing her first pony at the age of seven. By age 12 Bille Jo was showing horses winning many Championship titles in 4H and other local shows.
After High School Billie Jo and her family chose Southern Seminary in Buena Vista, Virginia because of their strong Equestrian program. She took her new 17 hand Thoroughbred horse with her.
Due to Billie’s love for horses and her strong determination she excelled at the Seminary. Here are a few of her accomplishments at Southern Seminary
- She played a major supporting role on the riding team
- She rode on the riding team
- President of her of the Equestrian Club
- Coached the walk trot team that won the finals her graduating year
- Show A Rated with her Thoroughbred
After graduation Billie Jo started her riding stables in Mechanicsville at the family farm. She developed a substantial riding school for the 20 plus years there. In addition to lessons and clinics she specialized in showing Appaloosa and Quarter Horses in Mechanicsville.
In 2004 Billie and the family had an oportunity to own and operate a large Riding facility in Montpelier Virginia. There Billie and the family continue her showing and teaching.
They offer a full lesson program for both Western and English seats.

Billie Jo is a 4H leader and offers horsemanship and showmanship classed through the local Virginia County Extension programs. This is a very active group that show together and do many community events throughout the year.
There is something for the whole family here at Old Ridge Run Stables. There are classes and clinics for the very young riders and all stages adult classes.
